Occupying a warehouse space of 10 acres the port is home to 2.5 million people living there. Strategically located, the port’s location facilitates the functioning of the import-export taking place along the coast. With this, the Port of Xiamen has made its mark in international trade with an overall traffic of 191 million tonnes of cargo.

With the coastal line stretching to about 30 kilometres and an unrestricted depth of 17 meters, this port is replete with the modern infrastructure of container terminals, bulk terminals and Ro terminals.
Port of Xiamen was founded in 282 AD during the Jin Dynasty when it was part of the Jin’an Prefecture. Later during the Song Dynasty from 10 th to 13 th century, the port was recognized as an international seaport. Finally, by the year 1949, Xiamen city became a municipality fully equipped with an electrical plant, new warehouses and facilities capable of handling large sea going vessels.
Well- known for its ocean-borne trade, Xiamen specializes in handling imports fromports around the world.
