Si se dedica a la exportación e importación de productos, estará familiarizado con el Sistema Armonizado de Designación y Codificación de Mercancías, más conocido como Sistema Armonizado (HS) o Sistema Armonizado de Nomenclatura (HSN). Es un método universalmente aceptado para clasificar los bienes objeto de comercio. Su función principal es ayudar a las autoridades aduaneras a identificar los productos y evaluar los derechos e impuestos correctos sobre ellos. En el Sistema Armonizado, a cada producto se le asigna un código numérico único denominado código SA. Este código tiene un mínimo de seis dígitos y, por lo general, puede llegar hasta 10 dígitos (aunque China tiene un código de 13 dígitos).
¿Qué es el sistema armonizado?

Los primeros 2 dígitos identifican el capítulo en el que se encuentra el producto
Los 2 dígitos siguientes identifican un encabezado con ese capítulo
Los dos últimos dígitos indican un subtítulo, lo que lo hace más específico.
