1. All JNPT stakeholders have been contributing their best to keep the logistics supply chain going. As a result of their support, JNPT managed to move 15 train rakes yesterday.2. CC/PC-Customs, Hyderabad interacted with stakeholders at ICD, Sanathnagar. The trade were assured regarding 24X7 Customs operations and seamless movement of EXIM cargo. 3 Customs officers have been posted in the Police Control Room, Hyderabad for this purpose.3. Ludhiana Customs thru liaison with State Govt. arranged 10 daily permits for CHAs yesterday. Custom clearance work carried out smoothly & few containers of essential goods given Out of Charge/LEO from ICDs/CFSs.4. 1000+ TEUs evacuated by rail since 28th March to ICD Tondiarpet (TNPM) helping terminal operations keep running smoothly.5. SAFMARINE | Mauritius Surcharges Update due to Covid-19 Outbreak+

Following the outbreak of COVID-19, Safmarine group have announced that the Mauritius Government has provided an update on the surcharges, which will be applicable only for the period between 20th March and 15th April 2020 on dry cargo only. In the standard tariff, there will be 50 % discount on import detention & demurrage for dry cargo during the said period. Customers who have already filed for special deals are not eligible for this discount.

DGFT | New Scheme Remission of Duties & Taxes on Exported Products(RoDTEP) passed by Cabinet

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved RoDTEP to reduce and reimburse the taxes and duties costs at the central, state and local level to increase Indian exports at competitive costs in the international markets and generate employment in various sectors. This WTO compliant scheme is completely digitized. An inter-ministerial committee will determine the rates and items for reimbursement, which will be notified by the Department of Commerce. However, certain taxes/duties/levies outside GST like VAT on fuel used in transportation, Mandi tax, etc… are non-refundable and an Information Technology based Risk Management System (RMS), would be set up to verify the records of the exporters.

In the wake of a 21-day nationwide lockdown to curb COVID 19 situation, it was reported that the Centre has exempted certain services. Inter-State movement of goods/cargo for inland and exports, cross- land border movement of essential goods, customs clearance at ports/airports/land border and operations of railways, airports and seaports for cargo movement, relief and evacuation fall under the exempted category.

ECGC took additional measures:1. Waiver of Credit Limit Application fee till 30th June, 2020.2. 50% reduction in policy proposal fee for policies due for renewal / issue from 1st March to till 30th June, 2020.3. Discretion to exporters (a)to extend due date for payment by buyers for shipments accepted earlier (b)to decide about resale/reimport/or abandonment for the shipments that reached destination but not cleared by overseas buyers due to lockdown in the destination countries4. Reduced Claim eligibility period (waiting period) from the present 4 months to 1 month.

Around 40 mills with distillery units have applied for licenses and necessary documents.

SAFMARINE | Revised guidelines on Import Free time - Pan India

The shipping industry is facing a lot of challenges in the wake of the recent outbreak of COVID-19 and lockdown at various places despite being operational across the world. Hence, Safmarine group have revised their guidelines on the import free time pan India from 27th March onwards to 7th April, as a special concession to their customers. According to this, they will not be charging container detention on all their Import shipments into India for the said period. Also, they confirm that it is a one-off gesture to their customers and the change will reflect on all invoices.
